Why Microfiber Towels Matter More
Than You Think
One of the fastest ways to ruin a
beautiful paint job, especially if your car
is ceramic coated is using the wrong
towel.
Most people don’t realize that not all
microfiber is created equal. You’ve
probably seen cheap packs at Walmart,
AutoZone, or on Amazon that don’t even
list the towel’s specs. That’s not by
accident. They’re often low-quality, lowGSM towels that can scratch your paint,
create swirls, and slowly degrade your
vehicle’s finish.
Let’s talk about GSM, or grams per
square meter. It’s a measure of density
and plushness.
200–300 GSM = thin, cheap, often
unsafe for paint.
500 GSM and up = soft, thick, paintsafe microfiber the gold standard for
the exterior of vehicles.
